GreenSpark Innovation Hackathon
A Western Australian Innovation Hackathon exploring practical applications of AI in green technologies and climate.
Greentech Hub, supported by Spacecubed and WA Data Science and Innovation Hub, is launching the first GreenSpark Innovation Hackathon.
GreenSpark is challenging engineers, developers, researchers, founders and students to build practical AI tools that solve real industry problems in construction, energy and industrial decarbonisation. WA industry have provided real-world use cases to solve, and over the course of the program, teams work directly with industry, mentors and investors to take an idea from concept to working prototype. Not only does GreenSpark aim to spotlight high potential solutions throughout the hackathon and award over $40,000 in cash prizes, we want to identify who in the room has the ambition to commercialise their idea and and grow as innovators with a curated support structure for what comes next - and welcome to the GreenSpark cohort.
Timeline
- 1 September - 14 October: Registrations open
- 15 October: Hackathon Launch Day
- 16 October: Customer Validation Day

- 30 October: Pitch & Sundowner
- 8 December: West Tech Fest winning pitch
Run in Perth at Riff, the hackathon is open to engineers, developers, data scientists, researchers, students, founders and sustainability professionals. If green technology isn't a space you've worked in before, get involved! You don't need a team to register, we'll match you with one.
GreenTech Hub
The Greentech Hub mobilises green entrepreneurs in Western Australia and is one of WA's 5 Innovation Hubs, supporting innovation, commercialisation and tech development to catalyse a green, low-carbon future for all. GreenTech Hub works through Innovation Challenge models, including hackathons, taking a market-first approach to tackling WA industry challenges in decarbonisation, circular economy, and biodiversity loss. Learn more about GreenTech Hub and their upcoming Innovation Challenges here.
The challenges
Industry sponsors are providing the real world problems teams will work on throughout GreenSpark. You'll be innovating to solve for real, existing industry opportunities, with prototype solutions that can be iterated and adopted quickly. Specific use case themes will be revealed in the weeks to follow.
Why Join?

Build, Win & Grow
Build a working prototype alongside industry mentors and investors, with a cash prize pool of over $40,000 to be won, plus a pitching slot at West Tech Fest 2026. As a Finalist in the GreenSpark cohort, we'll help you commercialise your ideas.

Solve Real Problems
Work on live use cases set directly by industry, not hypothetical briefs, so your solution is grounded in a real operational need from day one. Work closely with the customer to ideate, iterate, and pitch your solution.

Join Our Network
Connect with WA's AI and green tech community, and get fast tracked into the GreenTech Hub GreenSpark cohort and Spacecubed ecosystems for ongoing support beyond the program.
Ready to Build Something That Matters?
GreenSpark is a small, hands on cohort by design. We are limiting places on the program so every participant gets real access to mentors, industry sponsors and a challenge worth solving, not a crowded room.
WA's decarbonisation problems are real and pressing, and the solutions are being built now, by the people who show up. If you want to be one of them, do not wait to register.
